Overview
Mongolian Tour Experts suggest a fresh adventure for both professional and amateur skiers and snowboarders to the remote Altai Mountain range in westernmost Mongolia. These mighty snow-capped mountains are the tallest peaks of Mongolia standing over 4,000 meters above sea level. A camel caravan supported trek will bring the team to the base of the Altai Mountains, where you can enjoy five full days of skiing or snowboarding. Moreover, you’ll get a chance to meet locals of Kazakh and Tuvan backgrounds, learn about their nomadic traditions, and get a glimpse into their unique lifestyles. You might even see a golden eagle of a Kazakh hunter when you visit their home.

Day 1 Arrival in Ulaanbaatar, tour briefing during welcome dinner
Arrive in Ulaanbaatar, the bustling capital of Mongolia. Our representative will pick you up from the airport and transfer you to a centrally located hotel. After settling into your room, meet your guide in the lobby for a walking city tour to the main square and nearby museums. Then attend an evening show of traditional performances followed by a welcome dinner.

Day 2 Flight to Western Mongolia
Transfer to the airport for a 3-hour domestic flight to Ulgii, the capital of the westernmost province. Our team will meet you upon arrival. Drive about 180 km on a bumpy dirt road to the White River valley at the Altai Tavan Bogd NP. This is the homeland of the Tuvan people. Here we will meet our local herder who will accompany us as support with their camels to carry our luggage and supplies.

Day 3 Camel supported trek to the Altai Tavan Bogd basecamp
After breakfast, we will load our luggage and supplies onto the camels and trek to the base of the Altai Mountains and set up base camp. Today’s trek is a gentle ascent with a scenic view of the surrounding snow-capped mountains.

Day 4-8 Skiing in Altai Tavan Bogd massif
During these five days, we will ski/snowboard down from the surrounding +4,000 m ASL high mountains.

Day 9 Return hike to White River
Return to the White River valley on a gentle downhill stroll along the river. Go near the Graneg's Glacier and see how the glacier melt forms into torrents of the White River. Once again, all loads will be transported by camels. Tonight, the cook will serve you a local delicacy.

Day 10 Drive back to Ulgii
Take a 7-hour drive back to Ulgii. Stay overnight at a local hotel. En route, we will have a short stopover at Sagsai village to visit Golden Eagle hunters and get a glimpse into their tradition of hunting with these majestic birds of prey.

Day 11 Flight back to UB
Transfer to the local airport and catch a flight back to UB. Transfer to the hotel upon arrival and free afternoon until farewell dinner.

Free day to explore, go city-sightseeing and do shopping in UB.
